sPeEcH dAy!!
It's a long time since i have blogged because of the busy life in ajc. Here is a summary of what i did in the past few weeks.
There's a lot of activites such as harmonica band performance during the last last friday. The performance was okay except for a few mistakes but over it was much better than practice.
Last wednesday we had our track and field meet at the ajc field. The place was extremely small and had to accomodate so many people. The sun was scorching hot and everyone was dying from the heat. We,puma, started as the last team but we ended up in rank 2. One of the most exciting scenes was that xuelin ran and finished the race first,clinching a gold medal for our house!!WOW!!SO FAST SIA!!Congratulations to her!!Win so much face for our class!! HAHA!!We watched how the cheer-leaders performed. The stunts that they were doing were so difficult!! If I were the one doing it,I would have broke my backbone!!LOL!!
Today was the day!!It was speech day today!!I was so excitied about this event till the extent that I could not sleep until one plus in the morning. I was so tired in the morning. During math tutorial where we had to do a class assessment,I was having a headache and was not in a mood to do. I scrapped through everything and even discussed the solutions with eecheng because I really could not concentrate.
Next up was the PE. The PE teacher asked us to run 1round as warm-up and run 2.4km as a group to train to together but in the end,everyone was running at their own pace and no one waited for qiliang. Evan,Yongyuan and I called the front people to slow down but no one did. In the end,we were like two different groups. The timing was extremely bad because the weather was extremely hot and everyone was perspiring. Later the teacher gave us time to train ourselves on which stations that we were weak in and I of course was training for my pull-ups. I did seperate 10 pull-ups with assistance which was a great achievement to me!! I was so happy sia!!
After that,it was the chemistry lecture by that fierce teacher who did not allow us to talk even though we got problems to clear among ourselves. Anyway,we just copied down everything and understood it at home which is more productive. During the mass civics,we had a test on the stress level. We were given 15 questions to answer. Each answer had a,b,c,d,e and we were supposed to calculate how many points we had with e=5,d=4,c=3,b=2,a=1. I got 65 out of 75 which was like... I was in the group belonging to the very severe stress. I NEED HELP IMMEDIATELY!! LOL!!
After that, I went back home to prepare for speech day. I went back to cckss to collect my o level certificate first before I went to CDANS. When I reached there, I only saw Liyong because she went with Chinese Orchestra. We were the earliest and there was no other ex-students. Eecheng, Harris, Kwok Hoe, Yongyuan and I went to change into our Blazer. We were like so extra as all the ajc wore the light blue blazer while Harris wore the black one. Later we went in to talk to our teachers. Then I found out the reason why I got the award. There was competition between me and one other secondary 5 guy but the other guy lost out due to his cca record. So I got the award in the end. HENG SIA!!
We had one rehearsal before the actual thing started. I brought my mother and sister to the hall. The event kicked off with the prefect investiture where the prefects were given the credits for the efforts that they had put in. Then next was the prize presentation ceremony. The results were so shocking. There was one guy who got top in 5 subjects and top in level!! OMG!!
Next was the O level. We went up one-by-one to get the prize. We agreed to shout and scream but a soft sound came out. Before my turn was andrea who was the top student of O level. When she went up, she was so popular as the whole school cheered for her. This added pressure because if no one cheered for me, I would be super malu. Heng sia!! When the MC called my name, I had to stand at one place waiting for the MCs to complete their description on me. I was standing there feeling very nervous. My hands were trembling and I had to stand leaning to one side of my body. I looked at everyone,trying to find all the familiar faces but all that I could see was a sea of green faces. The only outstanding people were the ajc. I saw Mr Lee, my CO conductor. He was grinning which made me so happy. Then I saw eecheng they all standing up to cheer for me. I saw them trying to make me smile on stage but in the end I still did not smile. I could only catch four sentences;"Student of the year is Lim Yu Ding","He's highly motivated","He helped the weaker students" and " Student of the Year,Lim Yu Ding". That was all that I heard. I was standing there remembering what the vice-principal said to me;"Here is your one minute of fame". It was true after all. I was so happy!! This was the first time in my life that so many people clapped for me and the first time in my life to receive a trophy. I almost cried. On my way back to my seat, there were a lot of people congratulating me. They shook hands with me. I was so touched!!I saw Mrs Philips who nominated me. SO TOUCHED!!Thanks guys for all the things that u have done to make me feel so happy!!I can say that my life is dull and boring if there's no bunch of great people like 4/9 and most importantly the delicated teachers that bring us to a greater height in my life!! THANKS!! Hope that one day, I will repay all the teachers that have taught me in one way or another!!
Later we were taking loads of photos and had a light refreshments. We talked to many teachers and even the principal,Miss Sim. Miss Sim told me that she did not know any of my achievements until my name was up on the list of student of the year. I was like ... HOW CAN SHE BE LIKE THAT!?LOL!!
Anyway,it was okay to me. We talked to alot of teachers including Mrs Philips, Mdm Prema who commented that our ajc blazer made us look like some stockbrokers,Mrs Tang and Mr Tan Wee Liat. We talked a lot and even Mr Tan Wee Liat was telling us some yellow jokes on the snacks thing. We told him the jokes that Rachel told us. He was like... and walked off. HAHA!!
Later we as a gang of more than 17 comprising of almost all the recipients in 4/8 and 4/9 went to Bukit Panjang Plaza to have dinner. We sat in one row. You could say that we were having lliegal gathering. The mood was high as everyone was chit-chatting after losing touch with their friends for so long!!
In life,we need friends to pull us through the difficult periods and encourage us to do a better job so from now on, I will treasure my friendship more than anything else...
